For US President Donald Trump this may have come as a major embarrassment as Billionaire Philanthropist Melinda Gates rated the Trump administration's response to the deadly Coronavirus pandemic as D-minus. The Co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Melinda Gates has rated US President Donald Trump and his administration's efforts as low because of the lack of coordination for the national response to Covid 19. More than75000 people have lost their lives in United States of America due to Coronavirus. Her rating has assumed greater significance in the light of the fact that Gates Foundation is  one of the major donating foundations of the world. Bill and Melinda Gates foundation has donated billions of dollars to health research.
Where is the fault?
Billionaire philanthropist Melinda Gates explained the reason for giving low grade stating that more funding towards vaccines and testing were needed in the United States to fight the global pandemic. In an interview to Politico Melinda Gates gave example of Germany's exemplary work said that US should have done more testing. The World Health Organisation has been repeatedly stating that Testing is the most critical step in fight against Coronavirus.
Drawing a comparison between state governors and US administration Melinda Gates said that the state governors were stepping up with ”50 different homegrown state solutions” to handle the novel virus. She stressed on the need of being proactive in raising funds for vaccines and testing. Organisations should also be looking into funding vaccine development, she added. The Trump administration was also criticised for its response to the pandemic on an international stage.Meanwhile the White House spokesperson Judd Deere claimed that the president’s response was an “unprecedented approach”in the nature when working with state governors.“The ongoing response to this global pandemic has been about close coordination and partnerships with State and local governments,” he said.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and WHO connection:

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is also the World Health Organization’s second largest funder , providing almost 10 percent of the international organization’s fund. It may be mentioned here that US President Donald Trump had come down heavily on the World Health Organisation over its handling of the Coronavirus pandemic last month. President Trump went to the extent of calling WHO as very China Centric.  The WHO had refuted the charge. Earlier the first couple of Microsoft expressed their hope on Europe as they felt global cooperation in the coronavirus fight was need of the hour.  The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation which is the largest private underwriter of public health initiatives, hoped that the European Union can step in to fill a leadership void left by the US and guarantee that a vaccine or medicines, once available, are deployed fairly — especially to frontline health workers first.
