For Kerala based CPM activist Omanakkuttan, the life took a 360 turn in just a span of couple of days. CPM activist Omanakkuttan who had been accused of collecting money from inhabitants of a relief camp at Ambedkar Community hall, Kannikat, Cherthala, was given a clean chit by the Revenue Department which said that Omanakkuttan was not a fraud.
His journey from being an innocent worker of CPM to a fraud and then an innocent was nothing like a  story from Bollywood film.
What happened?
CPM leader who was an inhabitant of the relief camp took the responsibility to buy rice for other inhabitants of the camp as the revenue department could not provide materials to the people in the relief camps. In absence of adequate money to pay the auto driver for bringing the rice, Omanakkuttan collected the money from other inhabitants for the auto driver but some people misjudged him and complained to the Revenue department that he was collecting money for his own needs.
An independent inquiry by the District Collector found Omanakkuttan innocent. The inquiry revealed that Omanakkuttan had sincerely helped the inhabitants of the camp and hence the department decided to withdraw the criminal case it had filed against him. Revenue secretary Dr V Venu directed the Alappuzha district collector to withdraw the criminal case the department had filed against Omanakkuttan. The Revenue Secretary Dr Venu also apologised to Omanakuttan on portraying him in the wrong manner.  For Kerala based CPM activist Omanakkuttan, the life took a 360 turn in just a span of couple of days. The CPM has decided to withdraw his suspension it slapped on him who had been wrongly accused of collecting money from flood victims.
