A veteran business journalist has made an online appeal to people to oppose banks abusing their customers for years. Sucheta Dalal who writes a column in several leading newspapers said that banks in India have been abusing their customers for years now. Taking a dig at the rationining of transaction and levy customers for trasactions. They freely increase banking charges as per their whims. They adopt customer-unfriendly terms. They oversell products such as insurance to increase their profits.Shockingly, the Reserve Bank of India has stayed silent on this mistreatment. The RBI's ombudsman tends to favour and protect banks when complaints are lodged. Through change.org, Dalal urged people to sign her petition  asking the RBI to change their policies so that our rights are protected.

A policy will ensure that digital transactions are encouraged but protected. Bank account portability is allowed so that customers can shift to a better bank. Unfair agreements that favour banks and unregulated charges are controlled. Her petition has already got support from MPs and prominent bankers. “It has helped me get a response from Union Minister Piyush Goyal”, Dalal stated adding that she needs at least one lakh signatures by end of the ongoing week.
